JTWG Campaign Launch Meeting

Join Just Transition Working Group Members as we vote on, start planning, and launch a student/youth-led campaign for just transition.  Active members, curious folks, and alum welcome.

Doors open @ 10:45. Programming starts at 11, ends at or before 4. We'll have lunch and snacks. KSEC can provide gas scholarships. For more info email Caci @ cacigibson94@gmail(.)com or message us on any social media.

Accessibility: The Plantory has free parking, both on street and in a parking lot. There is a sidewalk in front of the building. There are stairs, a chair lift, and an elevator inside. The Plantory has gender neutral bathrooms and a communal kitchen space (no oven). There are a variety of chair types (including armless, metal frame) and the building is climate controlled, but can be drafty. There is WiFi.

Registration information helps us buy food and arrange carpools.

Open Call to Join the Just Transition Working Group

Ready to take action, stop climate change & build a new world?

We are too! KSEC's Just Transition Working Group is launching a new campaign. We are calling on folks who are ready to commit to making a difference to join us as we choose campaign goals and finalize our plans. If you have been curious about joining KSEC and the just transition, whether you're an experienced activist or brand new, this a great opportunity.

We welcome you to join an open call at the time that is most convenient for you. All calls will be on Google Hangouts with voice and video options. During the call, we will be viewing a slideshow and will share information in the hangouts chat. The calls are:
  • Tuesday, February 19, 6-7:30 PM EST
  • Wednesday, February 20, 7-8:30 PM EST
  • Thursday, February 21, 8-9:30 PM EST

On each call we will:
  • Give a quick introduction to KSEC, the Just Transition Working Group, and what making a commitment would look like
  • Review some potential escalation or education campaigns including:
    • Divestment
    • Reinvestment
    • Climate Mayors
    • Rural Electric Cooperatives
    • Worker Cooperatives
    • Prison Resistance
    • And others!
  • Share a campaign planning training
  • Vote on a campaign topic
  • Start planning

2019 Annual Meeting

All KSEC leaders are invited to join us for our 2019 Annual Meeting! This KSEC-wide convening brings all of our leaders together in one space to build community, grow our power, and make plans. Food, housing, and transportation scholarships are provided.

The meeting officially takes place from 10:30 AM Saturday to 4 PM Sunday, but we are hosting an optional Anti-Oppression training at 6:30 PM Friday night to set the tone for the weekend and kickoff our 2019 AO Solidarity Tour!

Please RSVP at https://actionnetwork.org/events/2019-january-meeting-registration by January 14th. If you indicated that you need a carpool, gas scholarship, or housing, a staff member will be in touch with you to finalize the logistics.

Pipeline Resistance Summit

Join us on November 17th in Lexington for a day of learning and sharing ideas around pipeline resistance. We'll have a panel of pipeline resisters from across the country and workshops about gas and pipeline issues in Kentucky, the national pipeline resistance landscape, grassroots organizing 101 and non-violent direct action 101.  RSVP to attend

KSEC Annual Fall Summit

Join student activists from across the state on October 19th-21st at Lago Linda Hideaway for a weekend of building grassroots power through workshops, trainings, planning for the coming year, good food and great company!

We will be camping at a beautiful wooded retreat area and all meals will be provided! Registered participants will receive a logistics packet including a packing list, emergency information, and detailed directions to the site.
